2024 marked the 40th anniversary of Polifoam Ltd., a pioneer in foam manufacturing and the first Japanese-Hungarian joint venture. Founded in 1984, Polifoam introduced polyethylene foam to Eastern Europe, quickly becoming an industry leader.

Over the decades, Polifoam has become synonymous with high-quality foam products, particularly sports and hiking mats, in Hungary.

Polifoam’s journey began with Pannonplast collaborating with the Japanese company Furukawa Electric to bring advanced foamed plastic production technology to Hungary. Furukawa Electric later became the owner of the Trocellen Group in 2005, which acquired Polifoam in 2006. This brought Polifoam’s technology—enriched with valuable expertise and experience—back to its origins in the Furukawa Electric Group.

As an ISCC Plus-certified company, Polifoam is committed to sustainability, specializing in recycled and bio-based polymers. Its lightweight, durable foam solutions cater to a variety of industries, from sports to packaging. Within Trocellen Group, Polifoam plays a flagship role in building an environmentally conscious portfolio, offering recycled polyethylene solutions, particularly for the sports industry.
