History

1972 to present

Trocellen was founded as a new company and brand of Dynamit Nobel and HT Troplast. The name and the products quickly built up a strong reputation and Trocellen soon became a successful brand of the company. With headquarters in Troisdorf, Germany, the evolving and transforming company has since opened or acquired various production plants in Germany, Italy, Spain, Hungary and Malaysia.

Trocellen launched its NATURELOOP portfolio and introduced the eco-design approach to new product development, reinforcing its sustainability strategy. This step expanded the company’s use of more environmentally conscious materials, including TR-EECell, a bio-based cross-linked polyethylene foam made from sugar cane biomass, and REcy-PE, our foam incorporating recycled polyethylene, supporting the transition towards a more circular and resource efficient material model.

2023

Furukawa became the 100% owner of Trocellen GmbH, opening new horizons for both companies to fully exploit their combined potential in innovation and business cooperation.

2014

Trocellen restructured its organisation and redefined its market approach, placing partners’ needs at the centre of everything it does. The new business-unit-based structure enabled better market understanding, consistent monitoring, and long-lasting customer relationships.

2011

Through a series of acquisitions and mergers across Europe, Trocellen extended its production and development capacity step by step, including the acquisition of Polifoam — the Japanese-Hungarian joint venture founded in 1984 — making Trocellen the first-choice chemically cross-linked polyethylene foam manufacturer in the Central and Eastern European market.

2006-2010

Furukawa Electric Co. Ltd. and Otsuka Chemical Co. Ltd. took over Trocellen, bringing deep foam industry expertise that significantly strengthened the company’s technological and innovation background.

2005

At the turn of the millennium, Trocellen became an independent company — Trocellen GmbH. Backed by significant investments in production and technology, the newly standalone business was ready to grow on its own terms.

2000

Through strategic acquisitions and business development, Trocellen steadily built the foundations of its Europe-based global operations.

1972-2000

The first Trocellen foam was produced as part of the Dynamit Nobel corporation, marking the birth of a brand that would quickly earn a strong reputation across Europe.
