1. Tell us a little about yourself. What should we know about you beyond your job title?

For almost two and a half years, I have worked as an Energy and Environmental Management Specialist at Trocellen’s Troisdorf site. Before joining Trocellen, I spent more than 25 years in chemical logistics, holding various roles and responsibilities across a broad range of areas, from quality management and occupational health and safety to waste management, emission control, hazardous substances and dangerous goods.

2. What attracted you to Trocellen? What ultimately tipped the balance?

Besides the interesting product portfolio, I was particularly impressed by the company’s clear commitment to an environmentally responsible and sustainable strategy, as well as its international outlook.

3. What surprised you most during your first few months here, either positively or as a challenge?

The environmental regulatory requirements for a manufacturing company that is also energy-intensive are already very demanding. Nevertheless, since I joined Trocellen, numerous additional requirements have arisen as a result of legislative changes.

4. Can you describe your role in one sentence that your friends or family would understand?

I help our company meet environmental, energy and sustainability requirements and turn them into practical improvements.

5. What has been your proudest achievement since joining Trocellen?

My proudest achievement since joining Trocellen has been obtaining the permit to build our sustainable cooling system. The approval process was highly demanding, involved many different tasks and required close coordination with various stakeholders.

6. What is something new you have learned here that you did not expect to learn?

I was surprised to discover how comprehensive, detailed and well established Trocellen’s environmental reporting system is. I did not expect it to be so mature.

7. How would your colleagues describe you in three words?

Supportive, knowledgeable and collaborative.

8. Trocellen operates across multiple countries and cultures. Has working in an international environment changed the way you think or work?

In my previous role, I also had the opportunity to work with people from different cultural backgrounds and learn about their diverse perspectives and approaches, which I always found very enriching. My project work also took me to several countries within and outside Europe, including the Benelux region and the Middle East.

9. What does a good workday look like for you?

A good workday is one in which I can complete the most important tasks on my to-do list, make visible progress on key topics and work effectively with my colleagues.

10. If you could switch jobs with anyone at Trocellen for one day, whose job would you choose and why?

For one day, I would switch jobs with an energy and environmental colleague at another Trocellen site. It would be interesting to learn about their local challenges, priorities and solutions, and to exchange ideas and best practices.

11. What is your favourite part of the company culture?

I appreciate that safety is not only a high priority, but also an integral and actively practised part of the company culture.

12. What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work? Any hobbies, passions or unusual talents?

In my free time, I enjoy going to rock concerts with friends. I also support safety operations at motorsport events at the Nürburgring and volunteer for projects in Africa that help give children access to school education.

I would recommend visiting the Trocellen website to learn more about the company, reviewing the current job openings and then simply submitting an application.

14. What is one item that is always on your desk, and what does it say about you?

My notebook is always on my desk. I use it to capture important notes and ideas, and to structure and develop my thoughts.

I knew Trocellen was the right employer for me when I realised that I was already familiar with many of the challenges and saw that they were being addressed here in a structured, sustainable and forward-looking way.

16. What are you hoping to learn or achieve over the next few years of your career?

Over the next few years, I hope to continue developing professionally, contribute to lasting improvements in energy and environmental management, and grow further in my role at Trocellen.

Coffee or tea? Both, depending on the time of day and my mood.

Early bird or night owl? Early bird.

Office or home office? Office, because I enjoy working with my colleagues and talking to them in person. At the same time, I appreciate the flexibility of occasionally working from home.

Favourite app on your phone? For practical purposes, I mainly use navigation and mobility apps. For entertainment, Spotify is one of my favourites.

Dream travel destination? France, Italy or Norway. There are so many beautiful destinations to discover across Europe.
