Trocellen Ibérica invests in solar energy to drive sustainability
01.09.2025
Trocellen Ibérica, S.A., our Spanish plant, is taking another decisive step toward sustainability with the installation of a solar photovoltaic power plant at its facilities in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid).
This project represents a milestone in our environmental strategy: by producing renewable electricity for self-consumption, we will not only optimize operating costs but also significantly reduce our environmental impact.
The installation, made up of 1159 high-efficiency solar panels, delivers a peak power output of 607,72 kW. By converting sunlight into clean, renewable electricity, it will cover a substantial share of the site’s energy needs. This demonstrates our strong commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and building a greener future for all.
With this investment, we will not only contribute to the fight against climate change, which is expected to reduce emissions equivalent to an estimated 70 tons of CO2 per year, but we also strengthen our role as a responsible company, showing that efficiency and sustainability can go hand in hand with economic competitiveness.
Supported by European Union funding
The photovoltaic plant was made possible thanks to support from the incentive program for self-consumption and storage with renewable energy sources, as well as for the implementation of renewable thermal systems in the residential sector, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU. This project represents a total investment of 468.099,76€ with the option to receive a grant from the European Union of 100.021,32€.
Looking ahead
This project is only the beginning. It is the first step in a broader plan to integrate renewable energy solutions across all Trocellen operations, reinforcing our long-term commitment to sustainability, innovation, and responsibility toward future generations.
